Qollbi: A Font That Brings Elegance to Every Design

I’ve been working on a branding project for a small café that’s opening in the heart of the city. The owner wanted something warm, inviting, and a bit timeless—something that would feel like a place where people could gather, relax, and enjoy good coffee and conversation. As I opened my blank brand board, I knew I needed a font that could capture that vibe without being too loud or too plain.

The Search for the Right Typeface

Fonts are more than just text—they’re part of the story you’re telling. For this café, I needed a typeface that felt personal but professional, elegant yet approachable. I spent some time testing different options, looking for something that could work across multiple touchpoints: from the logo to the menu, from social media graphics to printed flyers.

That’s when I came across Qollbi. At first glance, it felt like a breath of fresh air. It’s a handwritten font with a strong calligraphic influence, but it doesn’t feel outdated or overly ornate. Instead, it carries a modern sensibility that makes it feel relevant and versatile. I immediately thought about how it could fit into the café’s branding, especially for the logo and signage.

Testing Qollbi in the Branding Process

I started by sketching out a few logo concepts and testing Qollbi against them. The font’s flowing curves and subtle serifs gave the logo a handcrafted feel, which aligned perfectly with the café’s theme. It wasn’t too bold, which helped maintain a sense of calm and sophistication. I also tried using it as a headline in mockups for the café’s website and social media posts, and it worked surprisingly well.

One of the things I appreciated most about Qollbi is its readability. Even though it has a handwritten style, it remains legible at smaller sizes, which is crucial for things like business cards and product labels. I tested it on a sample menu and found that it was easy to read, even when used in a less formal setting.

Another thing I noticed was how Qollbi can adapt to different design contexts. When I used it for a flyer promoting the café’s grand opening, it added a touch of personality without overwhelming the message. On the other hand, when I paired it with a clean sans-serif font for the body text, it created a nice contrast that made the design feel balanced and intentional.

Using Qollbi Across Branding Touchpoints

Qollbi has proven itself to be a versatile font that can work in a variety of design scenarios. Here are a few examples of how I’ve used it so far:

What I love most is how Qollbi maintains its personality even when used in different formats. Whether it’s on a shop sign, a label sticker, or an Instagram post, it feels natural and authentic.

Font Pairing and Design Consistency

When pairing Qollbi with other fonts, I found that it works best with simpler, more structured typefaces. A serif font like Georgia or a sans-serif like Montserrat can provide a great contrast while keeping the overall design grounded. I’ve also experimented with pairing it with other script fonts, but I found that Qollbi stands out on its own and doesn’t need much support.

For the café’s branding, I chose to pair Qollbi with a clean sans-serif font for body text. This combination allowed the design to feel both personal and professional, which was exactly what the client was looking for. It also helped ensure that the brand remained consistent across all materials, from packaging to digital assets.

Practical Tips for Using Qollbi in Your Projects

If you’re considering Qollbi for your next project, here are a few practical tips to keep in mind:

  1. Test it early: Before committing to a full brand system, test the font in different contexts to see how it performs.
  2. Check the styles: Make sure the font includes the necessary styles, weights, and alternates for your project.
  3. Consider licensing: Ensure that the font is suitable for commercial use and that you have the proper license for your intended application.
  4. Use it strategically: While Qollbi is versatile, it’s best used as a display or headline font rather than for long-form text.
  5. Pair wisely: Use it with fonts that complement its personality without overpowering it.

Overall, Qollbi has been a great addition to my design toolkit. It brings a sense of elegance and character to every project it’s used in, making it a valuable asset for designers working on branding, packaging, editorial design, and more.
